Me (self portrait) by Imogen Rogers
Acrylic on canvas
(staples on sides)
This harlequin type image represents a self portrait of me in the early stages of 'art healing' in my early twenties. At the time a counciller mentioned the pink mark on the right cheek and asked me what it ment to only have a mark on one side of the face......
In contrast more recent self portraits have strong features on both sides of the face, bright-sparkly eyes and dynamic colourplay in the background.
In this image the background aims to represent my chaotic inner and outter world at the time while the eyes behind the mask look on and sum up the mood of this piece.
